What is Thrine?

The band gets this question all the time.......

Simply put, Thrine is three guys that love rock and roll. Three guys that wear it out on stage everywhere they play. Thrine is about passion. Thrine is about energy. Thrine is about soul. Thrine is loud and proud.

The group met in late 2004 when drummer Brandon convinced himself and bassist Matt that it was time to dust off the instruments and take over the world. Matt jumped on board and the lifelong friends began rehearsals.  As dreamy as a rhythm section only band could have been, they quickly realized they had to bring in a ringer on guitar. So, a ballsy ad was placed and what they got was guitar player Mike from Boston, MA. The groove was instantly there and Matt and Brandon quickly realized Mike would take them anywhere they wished to go.  Originally a foursome, the guys have played tons of shows together over the last three years.  In the summer of 2007 the band shuffled the deck and became the trio known as Thrine.

That's great and all, but the name Thrine ...what does it mean?

Well, Mike charged Brandon with coming up with a name that conveyed "cosmos, big bang, destiny, etc."........all kinds of out-there stuff. And doesn't Thrine just make you think of that? Not exactly, right? Apparently, Mike thought so and in one of the biggest marketing disasters since New Coke, the band was called THRINE. Brandon would later say that it meant "three, divine, thrive, etc." and that he had invented a new word destined to become a household name. The real truth is Brandon was bitching about having to meet Mike's demands of combining all of these bizarre space concepts. He said something like "Mike, expects me to "enthrine" (a butchering of the work entwine) all these words together." "Wait, that's it!.........THRINE.........they'll love it!" And so the legend that is Thrine was born.

And what about the music?

Is this the part of the bio where the music is described as "no-nonsense, radio-friendly, and a refreshing change to the music industry?" What a joke. Thrine shows are full of nonsense, the band wouldn't want to be on mainstream boy-band radio, and certainly wouldn't want to be labeled a refreshing change-what are they.....a feminine product? The music is raw, the shows are wild, and you either get it or you don't. Thrine makes no excuses or apologies. They just rock your face off time and time again.

 What does it sound like?

Ahh.......here's where the bio is supposed to compare Thrine's sound to that of the great bands. Whatever. No, Thrine doesn't sound like Guns and Roses, Van Halen, Kiss, Green Day, U2, Led Zeppelin, or AC/DC..........but those influences and many more are alive and well with its members. Thrine's music is pounding rock and roll with great melodies. Music that makes you pound your fist and scream along with the lyrics until your throat hurts. The band operates under one motto......"it is what it is."

Thrine is there for the taking............
